Sex Doll Care Guide: How To Clean And Maintain Yours Properly
The dullest part of doll ownership is also the one we need to cover next, and that's maintenance. It is also the part that counts most, as a poorly maintained doll looks cheap, feels tacky and wears out years sooner than she should. There's good news, though: upkeep is easy. It's simple, cheap and quick. The bad news? Cutting corners comes with consequences. Both TPE and silicone are durable, but neither repairs itself. A set stain is permanent, mould inside becomes a health hazard, and a joint that has loosened won't tighten back up. No repair undoes any of that, so the whole game is prevention.

Cleaning Comes First
I'll set out the full routine properly, beginning with the moment after every use ends. Cleaning has to happen, because it's not just hygiene; it determines material lifespan. TPE is porous, which means it takes in oils, bacteria and dyes, and silicone is non-porous but still requires cleaning to stop buildup. The routine does not change by material:
1. Take out any inserts and wash them on their own
2. Clean the openings with warm water and a gentle antibacterial soap
3. Dry every part well using drying sticks (15-20 minutes at the least)
4. Finish the exterior with a coating of cornstarch or baby powder
5. Pack her away the right way

Keeping Mould Out
If people are going to slip up anywhere, it's step three. Drying sticks, meaning absorbent rods that stay in for 15-20 minutes, are essential, never optional. Skipping this step causes mould, and mould is a real problem for porous materials. You won't see it start, because it begins inside, and by the time you smell it, it has taken hold. For powder, a soft makeup brush is the tool, as it stops the surface turning tacky and dust sticking to the skin.

Weekly Checks Catch Small Problems
Add a deeper pass once a week. Flex her through her whole range of motion and listen for squeaky joints, because a drop of silicone-based lube on the bolt does the job, but keep oil-based lubricants away from TPE, because they damage the material. Check for small tears or signs of wear, as a TPE repair kit can mend small tears before they spread, while larger tears need a professional, so minor damage must never be ignored, because it grows. The earlier a tear is noticed, the cheaper it is to fix, and the less likely it creeps into a structurally important area.

Weekly Wig and Stain Care
Wigs need washing every week or two with wig-specific shampoo, not regular hair products, and should be air-dried fully before going back on. Stains develop around the thighs, back and buttocks despite careful handling, so look for them too, particularly on pale skin, where marks show up most. About fifteen minutes a week is all the weekly pass needs, and it catches most issues when they're still cheap to fix.

The Monthly Deep Pass
Once a month, go deeper. TPE loses oil naturally over time, so give it oil to top up the material, and a light layer of TPE-specific mineral oil keeps the material soft and stops cracking, roughly once a month or every few months depending on climate and how often she's used. If you live somewhere hot and dry, you'll need to oil more often than someone in a cooler, damper climate. Examine the skeleton: make sure every joint holds its pose, the standing feet bolts are tight if she has them, and the internal framework shows no sign of stress or wear.

Deep Cleaning the Orifices
Use a stronger antibacterial solution to deep clean the orifices and stop bacterial growth, then rinse and dry completely. Take a look at the storage setup too. Hanging points move, new pressure sources appear, and anything touching her that could transfer dye is an issue worth catching early. Writing down when you oiled, powdered and deep cleaned means you never lose track of what's overdue, and overdue jobs are the single most common cause of accelerated wear.

Comparing the Workload
Treat both materials much the same, bar a few important differences. TPE wants more maintenance because of its porosity, including more careful cleaning, more regular powdering and more oiling, and it marks more easily, although it's softer and warmer. Silicone is more forgiving since it's non-porous, which means better resistance to stains and bacteria, no oiling and longer-lasting detail, at the cost of being firmer, pricier and sometimes less alive. Hybrids pair a TPE body with a silicone head, giving you the best of both, with maintenance focused on the body and the head needing just a wipe.

What Not to Do
Here are the mistakes worth avoiding, since this is where most owners go wrong:
1. Don't use soap, body wash or shampoo meant for people, because they strip oils from the material
2. Never let alcohol or bleach near her, as they damage TPE and silicone alike
3. Don't shower her unless her standing feet have metal bolts
4. Keep her out of direct sunlight, which damages the material and bleaches wigs
5. Drying is the single most important part of cleaning, so don't skip it
6. Use silicone-based lubricant on TPE joints, never oil-based
7. Check fabrics on a cloth before they go anywhere near her body
8. Don't assume that an unused doll needs no maintenance

Oiling Even in Storage
People get caught out by that last one. Even in storage TPE has to be oiled and powdered, since it breaks down with or without use. Six months of neglect leaves a doll drier and stiffer than one that's been looked after, and that isn't always reversible. Putting her away for a long time? Oil her, powder her, and store her out of the sun and away from heat. When she comes back out, the first clean will take a little longer than usual.

How Long Cleanup Really Takes
Let's get real about the time involved. Expect roughly 45 minutes for the full clean, more with a big or heavy doll, which is no exaggeration. Expect 20 minutes of fun followed by 45 minutes of cleanup, which is the reality. To cut cleanup time in half is the main reason people use inserts or choose a doll with fewer orifices. If you're not prepared for that time commitment, buy a doll with inserts. If you are, make it routine and don't fight it, because maintenance is what keeps her in shape.

Choosing a Doll You Can Handle
Weight makes the whole job tougher than it sounds. A 45kg doll needs constant lifting, turning and moving, and that's genuinely physical work. A 25kg doll is easily doable, cleaned in one sitting with not much strain. If your main concern is the effort and time maintenance takes, buy the lighter doll and accept the trade-off in presence, because a heavy doll doesn't clean itself.

What Goes in Your Cleaning Kit
Then there's the matter of which cleaning products you use and whether they're safe. Mild antibacterial soap diluted in warm water is the safest bet; avoid anything scented or with added moisturisers or exfoliants. Drying sticks: cheap, reusable, and a pack of ten lasts months. For powder, ordinary cornstarch from the supermarket works just as well as purpose-made baby powder, and costs less. The correct mineral oil for TPE comes from doll suppliers, and it beats improvising with cooking oil, which turns rancid inside the material and leaves a smell you can't get rid of.

Plain Water and Mild Soap
Here's the rule of thumb for products you're unsure about: if you wouldn't put it on your own skin, don't put it on the doll. If it contains alcohol, bleach or oil-based ingredients, don't use it on TPE. A scented product on silicone can leave the scent lingering, so skip it. Always-safe: plain water and mild soap, as advised by manufacturers for routine cleaning.

Your Care Calendar
Here's the complete routine as a calendar. After each use: clean, dry, powder, store. Each week: joint check, damage check, wig wash, stain check. Monthly: the TPE gets oiled, the orifices deep-cleaned, the skeleton inspected, and the storage setup checked. Every quarter or two: full inspection of joints, skeleton and feet, replace worn components, check for cracking or sagging. Yearly: look at replacing the wig, inserts and any badly worn parts before they give out.

Not Glamorous, But It Pays
It isn't glamorous, and no one talks about it when buying a doll, but maintenance is what between a doll that lasts ten years and one that lasts eighteen months. The routine is simple: clean, dry, powder, oil, check, and repeat. It needs around 45 minutes a session, plus perhaps ten minutes a week extra. Keep at it, and your doll will reward you.
