The Wig-Removal Eyelash Trick For Sex Dolls: How And Why It Works
A small trick can save you a lot of frustration. When you take a wig off a doll, pull it forward over the face, never backward over the hairline. On paper it's small, but accidentally ripping off a glued-on eyelash means twenty minutes of re-gluing with tweezers and a steady hand. It's a lesson you only need to learn once.

The Strap Is the Culprit
What matters here is that lashes on most dolls are glued to the upper eyelid or the eye socket's edge, and are delicate. The small quantity of adhesive used to apply them means anything that catches them can dislodge them. When a wig comes off backward, the strap on the inside goes directly across the eyelash line, catches the lashes and pulls them off. If you pull the wig forward, the strap goes over the forehead and crown, nowhere near the lashes, which are entirely out of the way.

Step by Step Wig Removal
The approach couldn't be simpler. Start by steadying the doll's head in one hand, fingers on the sides of the skull just above the ears. With your free hand, take the wig by the front at the hairline and draw it forward and slightly upward so it slides over the forehead instead of backward over the crown. When done right, the wig comes off in one silky motion and the inner strap passes over the forehead, not the eyelash line. Especially with a lace front: catching on the lashes can tear the delicate lace.

Washing, Drying and a Doll Without Hair
The other part of the trick is to always have a spare wig on hand. The doll goes without a wig for a day or two every time you wash it, because synthetic wigs need steady washing and complete air-drying before they can go back on. With only one wig, the doll ends up either bald for a day or wearing a damp wig, and neither is ideal. A spare wig makes the issue go away completely, and it's a cheap investment with a huge effect on the ownership experience.

Keeping the Wig Looking Natural
Wash a wig with wig-specific shampoo instead of regular hair items. The coating on synthetic fibres gets stripped by steady shampoo, leaving the wig dull and frizzy, and it can leave residue that's hard to rinse out too. Cleaning the fibres without stripping them is what wig shampoo is formulated to do, and it keeps the wig looking natural for much longer. Hot hairdryers are out. Let the wig air-dry on a wig stand or a towel, with wig conditioner beforehand if the manufacturer suggests it.

The Wig: Most Important and Most Replaceable
One of the most crucial parts of the doll's appearance is the wig, and it's one of the most replaceable too. Next to the doll herself, wigs cost relatively little, and swapping one is by far the easiest way to give her a new look without a new doll. Rotating a few wigs gives you variety without the cost of multiple dolls, and a blonde and a brunette on the same doll are two totally different characters. You won't find many upgrades in doll ownership with better value.

Selecting a Spare Wig: Match the Size
When picking a spare wig, stick to the original's size. Some dolls use custom sizes, though most use standard wig sizes; too small a wig will be tight and prone to slipping, and too sizable a wig will sit awkwardly and look unnatural. Measuring the doll's head circumference before ordering lets you choose the right size. Select a returns-accepting seller if you're not sure about size, since mix-ups are common and returning is straightforward when the vendor is sensible.

Wig Colour: Dark vs Light
Spare wig colour matters as well. Dirt and oil are less noticeable on darker wigs than on lighter wigs, so they need less repeated washing and cope better with irregular maintenance. Every mark and every bit of oil shows on lighter wigs, which are more striking but need more regular washing. For regular use select a darker spare, the sensible alternative, and save the lighter wigs for special occasions or photography.

Better Storage, Better-Looking Wigs
Most buyers don't think about wig storage until they've got three wigs in a drawer and no idea which is which. Label your wigs if you've got more than one, and store each in a separate bag or on its own wig stand. A wig stored on a stand is ready to go straight out of storage, but one stored in a crumpled bag will need washing and restyling before it can be worn. Time and frustration are saved, and the wigs keep looking better for longer.

Don't Pull Down From the Crown
The eyelash trick goes further than wig removal. In reverse, the same principle holds for putting a wig on. Before settling the wig into place, make sure the inner strap is positioned correctly, having placed the wig on the doll's head from front to back and slid it over the forehead rather than pulling it down from the crown. For a lace front, prudently position the lace, then press it into place with your fingers, attentive not to catch the eyelashes. An inadequately positioned wig sits awkwardly and looks evidently fake, but a well-positioned one sits naturally and looks like real hair.

What Damages Eyelashes
Let's say a few words about the eyelashes themselves. Water, uneven handling and the wrong kind of adhesive can all damage them, as they're delicate. To put a fallen lash back, dab a small amount of eyelash adhesive on with a toothpick or cotton bud. Give the adhesive a moment to turn tacky, then press the lash down and keep holding it for a few seconds so it takes. Replace a lash that is too damaged to re-use with a new one, which is cheap and effortless to source.

Proportions Matter for Doll Faces
To replace an entire set of eyelashes, acquire a set that is designed for dolls and not for humans. The result of fitting human eyelashes, too long and too thick for doll faces, is a cartoonish look. The proportions of the doll's face are suited by doll eyelashes, which are shorter and finer. Generally they're pre-glued with a strip as well, making them easier to position accurately, a sizable help if you're not used to gluing small things.

When Less Is More With Lashes
The question of whether to use eyelashes at all comes up too. Not every doll needs lashes: natural or mature ones in particular can look better without, because heavy lashes can look too doll-like on a realistic face. Experimenting with and without will show you which suits the character. The lashes are removable, so you're not committing to anything by attempting them, and you can invariably replace them if you decide you prefer the look.

Attempt Colours, Lengths and Styles
Wigs in general come under the same logic. Entirely wrong on another face can be a wig that looks incredible on one, because not every doll suits every hairstyle. Colours, lengths and styles are all worth experimenting with before you settle on a favourite, even those outside your typical preference. Cheapest of all the ways to dramatically change her appearance is a wig, and a striking wig can make a doll look like an entirely different character.

Styling the Fringe
Wigs with a fringe call for care in how the fringe sits. The eyebrows can be covered entirely by an inadequately positioned fringe, which can also sit too high and look unnatural or fall awkwardly across the eyes. Spend some time getting the fringe sitting right before the wig is settled, and a small quantity of wig styling goods will hold it if needed. Framing the face and adding character, a well-positioned fringe is a plus, whereas a poorly positioned one makes the doll look incorrect no matter what else is right.

A Box or Labelled Bag for Wigs and Lashes
Ultimately, a dedicated container beats a shelf for the wig, eyelashes and any other small accessories. You know you put an eyelash down somewhere, and spending twenty minutes looking for it is frustrating; small parts get lost readily. Maintenance sessions get much faster when everything is kept together in a small box or labelled bag and you know where everything is.

Safeguard Your Eyelashes for Years
It seems insignificant until you've done it wrong once, and after that the wig-removal trick becomes second nature. Keep pulling forward and never backward, and your eyelashes will last for years. Pull backward and you'll end up acquiring replacement lashes every few months. Start from day one with this small habit that makes a huge difference.
