How To Clean And Maintain Your Sex Doll So It Lasts For Years
Nobody gets excited about this bit, but it has to be covered: looking after your doll. Yet it's what matters most, because without proper care a doll will look cheap, feel sticky and die years early. Happily, the job is straightforward. It's neither fiddly nor pricey, and it takes less time than people think. Where it bites is that skipping it or cutting corners always have consequences. TPE and silicone are durable materials, but they don't heal. A set stain is permanent, mould inside becomes a health hazard, and a joint that has loosened won't tighten back up. Nothing undoes that damage, which means prevention is everything.

Why TPE Needs a Proper Wash
I'll lay out the whole routine in order, starting at the point when each use ends. Cleaning is non-negotiable, and it isn't just about hygiene: it's about how long the material lasts. Oils, bacteria and dyes soak in by porous TPE, whereas non-porous silicone doesn't absorb them but still needs cleaning to prevent buildup. The routine doesn't differ by material:
1. Remove any inserts and wash them separately
2. Wash the orifices in warm water with a mild antibacterial soap
3. Dry everything completely using drying sticks (minimum 15-20 minutes)
4. Dust the whole exterior with cornstarch or baby powder
5. Store her safely

Dry, Then Powder
Step three is where most people fail. Think of drying sticks as compulsory: rods you leave inside for 15-20 minutes. Mould growth is what skipping this step causes, and porous materials suffer with it. You won't see it start, because it starts inside, and when you notice it, it has taken hold. Reach for a soft makeup brush when powdering; it stops the surface from getting tacky and prevents dust sticking.

Looking Over Her Joints and Skin
Once a week, do a more careful check. Flex her through her full range of motion and listen for stiff joints, a drop of silicone-based lubricant on the joint bolt sorts that, but keep oil-based lubricants away from TPE, as they degrade the material. Spot small tears or wear early, since a TPE repair kit can repair them before they get worse, while larger tears requires professional repair, so never overlook small damage, as it grows. Tears cost less to fix the sooner you spot them, and it's less likely they reach a structural area.

Washing the Wig
Wash the wig every one to two weeks with wig-specific shampoo (not regular hair products), then let it dry completely before it goes back on. Examine for stains too: even careful handling won't stop discolouration around the thighs, back and buttocks, particularly on pale skin. Most issues get found in the weekly pass, which takes about fifteen minutes, while they're still cheap to fix.

Oil, Then Check Again
Monthly, add a deeper layer. Oiling the TPE replenishes what it naturally sheds over time, so a thin coat of mineral oil specifically formulated for TPE dolls keeps softness and stops cracking, about monthly or every few months, according to your climate and how much she's used. A hot, dry climate calls for more regular oiling than a cooler, damper one. Inspect the skeleton and check that all joints hold their positions properly, that the standing feet bolts are secure if applicable, and that there's no sign of stress or wear on the internal framework.

Don't Lose Track of the Schedule
Give the orifices a deep clean with a stronger antibacterial solution to prevent bacteria growing, then rinse and dry them fully. Check how she's stored as well: hanging points can move, new sources of pressure can appear, and anything touching her that could transfer dye is a problem worth catching early. Record when you oiled, powdered and deep cleaned, and what's overdue never gets lost; overdue jobs are the most common cause of accelerated wear.

Comparing the Workload
Treat both materials almost the same, apart from a few important differences. TPE is higher maintenance since it's porous, with more careful cleaning, more regular powdering and more oiling, and easier staining, and softness and warmth on the plus side. Silicone is more forgiving since it's non-porous, giving you better resistance to stains and bacteria, no oiling and longer-lasting detail, at the cost of being firmer, pricier and sometimes less alive. Hybrid dolls with a TPE body and silicone head get the best of both, so the maintenance you're doing is concentrated where it actually matters and the head needs nothing beyond a wipe.

Habits That Damage Your Doll
Most owners trip up here, so these are the errors to steer clear of:
1. Avoid regular soap, body wash and shampoo, which strip the material of its oils
2. Stay away from alcohol and bleach, which damage both TPE and silicone
3. Never put her in the shower unless her standing feet have metal bolts
4. Keep her out of direct sunlight, which damages the material and bleaches wigs
5. Don't cut the drying short, as it's the most important part of cleaning
6. Keep oil-based lubricants off TPE joints, silicone-based only
7. Don't try new fabrics on her body before testing on a cloth
8. Don't assume she can be left alone simply because she hasn't been used

Degrading Without Use
It's the last one that catches people. TPE degrades regardless of use, so oiling and powdering continue while she's stored. Six months untouched leaves a doll stiffer and drier than a maintained one, and you can't always undo it. For long-term storage, oil and powder her first, then keep her out of the sun and away from heat sources. When she comes back out, the first clean will take a little longer than usual.

Time and Effort
Let's be honest about the time commitment. The full routine comes to roughly 45 minutes, more with a heavy or large doll, and that's no exaggeration. It can be 20 minutes of fun and 45 of cleanup; this is the reality. The biggest reason people use inserts is to cut cleanup time about in half; others buy a doll with fewer orifices. If that much time is too much, get a doll with inserts. If you're prepared, fold it into your routine and don't resist: maintenance is what keeps her in top condition.

Heavier Means More Work
It gets tougher than it sounds when the doll is hefty. It's genuinely physical: cleaning a 45kg doll involves lifting, turning and repositioning her repeatedly. A 25kg doll is much more manageable, and a single sitting does it without great strain. If time and effort matter most to you, the lighter doll is the pick, with a trade-off in presence you'll have to accept, since a heavy doll will never clean itself.

Safe Cleaning Products
Then there's the matter of which cleaning products you use and whether they're safe. Stick to mild antibacterial soap diluted in warm water, nothing scented, and nothing with added moisturisers or exfoliants. Buy a pack of ten drying sticks; they're cheap, reusable and last months. You can skip purpose-made baby powder if you like: plain cornstarch from the supermarket is cheaper and works just as well. Cooking oil is no substitute: it goes rancid inside the material and causes a smell you can't get rid of, so buy the correct mineral oil for TPE from doll suppliers.

If You Wouldn't Put It on Your Skin
The test is easy: if you wouldn't put it on your own skin, you shouldn't put it on the doll. If it contains alcohol, bleach or oil-based ingredients, don't use it on TPE. A scented product on silicone can leave the scent lingering, so skip it. Falling back on plain water and mild soap is never wrong, and manufacturers recommend it for regular cleaning.

Your Care Calendar
Here's the whole thing set out by date. After every use, clean, dry, powder and store. Once a week: inspect joints, look for damage, wash the wig, check stains. Monthly jobs: oiling, orifice deep-clean, skeleton inspection and storage check. Every three to six months: full inspection of joints, skeleton and feet, replace any worn components, check for cracking or sagging. Once a year: think about replacing the wig, inserts and heavily worn components before they fail by themselves.

Maintenance in a Nutshell
Maintenance is unglamorous, and nobody mentions it when they buy a doll, yet it's the difference a doll that lasts ten years and one that lasts eighteen months. The whole thing is simple: clean, dry, powder, oil, check and repeat. Allow about 45 minutes a session and maybe ten minutes a week beyond that. Do it consistently and your doll will reward you for it.
