A Wig-Removal Eyelash Trick For Sex Dolls That Prevents Damage
Remember this small, frustration-saving trick when removing a wig: pull forward over the face, never backward over the hairline. A trivial detail it may sound, but after accidentally ripping off a glued-on eyelash and spending twenty minutes re-gluing it with tweezers and a stable hand, you'll think differently. After doing it once, you won't make the oversight again.

Why Forward Is Safer
The cause is simple: lashes on most dolls are glued, either on the upper eyelid or on the edge of the eye socket, and they're fragile. Held by a small quantity of adhesive, they're easily dislodged by anything that catches them. Pulling a wig backward sends its inner strap directly over the eyelash line, where it catches the lashes and pulls them off. A forward pull routes the strap over the forehead and crown instead, keeping the lashes completely out of the way.

Why Lace Fronts Tear on Lashes
The method itself is simple. Before touching the wig, secure her head employing one hand on the sides of the skull above the ears. Pull the wig forward and slightly upward with the other hand, gripping the front at the hairline, so that it slides over the forehead rather than back over the crown. The wig should leave in one silky motion, the inner strap crossing the forehead instead of the eyelash line. If the wig has a lace front, take even more care; delicate lace that catches on the lashes can tear.

Why Spare Wigs Matter
Make sure you consistently have a spare wig on hand, which is the other part of the trick. Each time you wash a synthetic wig, which needs doing regularly, it has to air-dry totally before going back on, leaving the doll wigless for a day or two. Neither is ideal if you only have one wig: the doll is bald for a day or wearing a damp wig. For a cheap investment, a spare wig does a lot: it solves the problem entirely and makes a large difference to ownership.

Residue That's Hard to Rinse Out
When you're washing a wig, use wig-specific shampoo rather than regular hair products. Regular shampoo strips the synthetic fibres of their coating, which makes the wig look dull and frizzy, and it can also leave residue that's hard to rinse out. Wig shampoo cleans the fibres without stripping them, which is how it's formulated, and the wig stays natural-looking for much longer. Wig conditioner, where the maker suggests it, comes after washing, and drying should be natural, on a wig stand or a towel, never under a hot hairdryer.

The Easiest Way to Change a Doll's Look
Few parts matter more to the doll's appearance than the wig, and few are as replaceable. Wigs sit at the cheap end next to the doll, and a replacement is the single easiest way to change the look without a new doll. Rotating a few wigs gives you variety without the cost of multiple dolls, and a blonde and a brunette on the same doll are two completely different characters. This upgrade is one of the best value ones in doll ownership.

Choosing a Spare Wig: Match the Size
When selecting a spare wig, stick to the original's size. The wig that's too small ends up tight and prone to slipping, the wig that's too sizable sits awkwardly and looks unnatural, and you should note that some dolls use custom sizes rather than the standard wig sizes most use. The doll's head circumference, measured before ordering, tells you the right size to choose. A returns-friendly vendor is your safety net if the size is a guess, since getting it mistaken occurs a lot and returning is straightforward with a reasonable seller.

Lighter Wigs for Special Occasions
A spare wig's colour matters, too. Dirt and oil are less visible on darker wigs than on lighter wigs, so they need less regular washing and cope better with variable maintenance. Lighter wigs are more striking, yet every mark and every bit of oil shows on them, making more regular washing required. The practical choice for a spare that'll be worn frequently is a darker wig, leaving lighter wigs for special occasions or photography.

Separate Bags, Wig Stands and Labels
Another question is how to store the wigs, which most purchasers don't consider until they have three in a drawer and can't tell them apart. One bag or one wig stand per wig, plus labels if you've got more than one. A wig kept on a stand is ready to use as soon as it leaves storage; one kept in a crumpled bag has to be washed and restyled first. There's less time and frustration involved, and the wigs look better for longer.

A Well-Positioned Wig Looks Like Real Hair
The eyelash trick goes further than wig removal. Putting a wig on follows the same principle, in reverse. Place the wig on the doll's head from front to back, sliding it over the forehead rather than pulling it down from the crown, and make sure the inner strap is positioned correctly before you settle the wig into place. Press the lace into place with your fingers, positioned cautiously, if the wig has a lace front, and take care not to catch the eyelashes as you go. A well-positioned wig sits naturally and looks like genuine hair, while an inadequately positioned wig sits awkwardly and looks plainly fake.

Caring for Doll Eyelashes
Let's say a few words about the eyelashes themselves. Fragile as they are, they can be damaged by water, coarse handling and the incorrect kind of adhesive. To put a fallen lash back, dab a small amount of eyelash adhesive on with a toothpick or cotton bud. After the adhesive becomes tacky, press the lash into its spot and keep your grip on it for a few seconds so it sticks. Replace a lash that is too damaged to re-use with a new one, which is cheap and easy to source.

Why Human Lashes Look Cartoonish on Dolls
When replacing a whole set of eyelashes, select a set designed for dolls and not one designed for humans. Cartoonish is how human eyelashes end up looking on doll faces, since they're too long and too thick. Doll eyelashes are shorter and finer, and they suit the proportions of the doll's face. If you're not used to gluing small things, the usual pre-glued strip is a large help in positioning them accurately.

Realistic Faces and Lash Choices
Then there's the question of using eyelashes at all. Not every doll needs lashes: natural or mature ones in particular can look better without, because hefty lashes can look too doll-like on a realistic face. Experimenting with and without will show you which suits the character. You're not committing to anything by trying them, since the lashes are removable, and you can consistently replace them if you decide you prefer the look.

Find Your Favourite by Experimenting
That logic extends to wigs in general. Not every doll suits every hairstyle, and a wig that looks incredible on one face might look entirely wrong on another. Experimenting with distinct colours, lengths and styles comes before settling on a favourite, so don't be afraid to attempt something outside your usual preference. The wig is the cheapest way to change her appearance dramatically, and a doll with a striking wig can look like an entirely different character.

Fringe Placement Tips
A wig with a fringe needs care over how the fringe sits. A poorly positioned fringe may cover the eyebrows totally, may sit too high and look unnatural, or may fall awkwardly across the eyes. Fringe first: take your time positioning it correctly before the wig is settled, then use a small quantity of wig styling product if it won't stay put. The face is framed and character added by a well-positioned fringe, while an inadequately positioned one spoils the doll's look whatever else is right.

Where Did I Put That Eyelash?
There's one last tip: put the wig, eyelashes and any other small accessories in a container made for the job. Twenty minutes looking for an eyelash that you know you put down somewhere is irritating, and small parts do get lost easily. A small box or a labelled bag keeps everything together, and it makes maintenance sessions much faster because you know where everything is.

The Habit Worth Building Early
Insignificant until you've done it wrong once, the wig-removal trick then becomes second nature. Keep pulling forward and never backward, and your eyelashes will last for years. You'll be purchasing replacement lashes every few months if you pull backward. A small habit that makes a large difference, it's worth adopting from day one.
